As a private patient, birthing at Gosford Hospital, you will attend Gosford Hospital on the day you are having your baby. Where to go will be advised by your private obstetrician, depending on the type of birth planned such as spontaneous labour, induction of labour or caesarean section.
After birth, postnatal care continues in combination with your private obstetrician and the midwives. Women and families are supported to stay in the Maternity Ward of Gosford Hospital according to their individual needs. Wherever possible, a single room will be provided for private patients – if available and dependant on the clinical priorities in the unit at the time.
For women who go home prior to 5 days postnatal, we offer a midwifery in the home service. This will be discussed with you at the time of discharge and does not need a reservation or booking.
After the BirthYou will need to book your 6 week postnatal check with your private obstetrician in their rooms once you are home for follow up.
