Gosford Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine department offers:
- digital X-ray
- digital dental radiography
- digital DEXA scanner (checks the density of bones) including total body composition (BMD)
- digital fluoroscopy including barium studies (swallowing a special liquid to help the doctor examine the oesophagus, stomach and GI tract)
- digital 3D ultrasound (including abdomen, pelvic, carotid, musculoskeletal, obstetrics and gynaecology)
- state of the art ultra-low dose CT (specialised x-ray that produces a cross-sectional image of the body, or ‘slice’)
- MRI (uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to make images)
- interventional radiology (using images to help guide procedures) including joint and spine Injections, biopsies, drainages, central venous access and Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA)
- Nuclear Medicine (uses small amounts of radioactive substances known as isotopes to accurately diagnose a wide range of conditions and diseases).
