Communicable Disease Surveillance

The Central Coast Public Health Unit receives notifications for a number of communicable diseases as per the NSW Public Health Act, 2010 from laboratories, general practitioners, hospitals and schools. These communicable diseases are notifiable due to the impact they have on the community.
The Public Health Unit has a role in monitoring and responding to these notifiable diseases to prevent the ongoing transmission of these diseases and minimise their impact on the community and the healthcare system.
