Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is eReferral?
An eReferral is an electronic document that can be sent electronically from one healthcare service to another, and can replace the current process of faxing or posting. This will allow referrers to:
- efficiently send secure eReferrals to clinics across Central Coast Local Health District, and
- receive notifications on the acceptance and tracking of referrals.
eReferrals improve the triage and health management of your patient’s journey, improve patient safety and reduce specialist outpatient wait times.
The eReferral system, also known as ‘Engage Outpatients’ is being delivered via a partnership between eHealth, the Ministry of Health and stakeholders from Local Health Districts (LHDs) and Specialty Health Networks (SHNs).
