Outpatient clinics are provided to patients who need to be reviewed by a consulting specialist for a variety of reasons. This may be as a result of recent surgery or a recent admission to hospital.
An initial outpatient appointment is usually co-ordinated prior to your discharge from the hospital.
You will be advised what you need to bring to your appointment when you make your outpatient clinic appointment.
The appointment time you are given is the time by which you should arrive. Please allow a few hours when attending clinics.
Making and changing appointments
If you need to make, change or cancel appointments for Gosford Hospital clinics contact 02 4320 3389.
To change or make additional appointments for Wyong Hospital clinics please refer to the Clinics information page.
If you need to re-book an appointment please be aware that some outpatient clinics are held monthly and it may not be possible to reschedule your appointment to the next clinic.
Please provide as much notice as possible when cancelling an appointment as this will enable us to offer your appointment to another person with sufficient notice.
We require a few days’ notice of cancellation for all appointments.
Who you will see
When you come into hospital you are admitted under the care of a specialist doctor, often referred to as the treating specialist. The treating specialist works with a team of registrars and resident medical officers.
If you require follow-up after your hospital stay you will see one of your treating specialist’s team in our outpatient clinics unless the specialist has requested that you attend their private rooms for follow up.
Specialist doctors generally attend the gynaecology, orthopaedic, cardiac, endocrinology, respiratory, gastroenterology and ear, nose and throat (ENT) clinics if available. However, if the specialist is not available you will be seen by a member of their team.
We aim to minimise the time that you need to wait for your appointment. However, on occasion, there may be some delays if the specialist/specialist’s team are unexpectedly delayed in the operating theatres or there are larger numbers of patients for a specific clinic requiring a longer consultation than expected.
We appreciate your patience and ask you to speak with our nursing or reception staff if you have any concerns.
