Aboriginal Mental Health

The Aboriginal Mental Health team works alongside clinicians within the Central Coast Mental Health Service to support Aboriginal people aged 18 years and over as well as their families, carers and communities. The team helps make sure mental health care is culturally safe and responsive for Aboriginal people.

The team provides cultural advice to clinicians and connects people with government and community support services, as well as providing advocacy and support when needed.

The Aboriginal Mental Health Team also delivers cultural awareness education to mental health staff to support culturally safe care.

If an Aboriginal person (yourself, a family member, friend or client) is referred to the Central Coast Mental Health Service, ask for the Aboriginal Mental Health Team to be involved in the care provided.
