Sleep well, feel better

Getting good sleep helps your body heal and feel strong.

How do you sleep?

Do you wake up feeling fresh and ready for the day?

If sleep is hard for you, try these tips:

Tips for better sleep:

  • Go to bed at the same time every night – this helps your body find its night-time rhythm so you will fall asleep faster, sleep deeper and wake up feeling fresh.
  • Wake up at the same time every morning- this helps your body find its day-time rhythm – waking up at different times can confuse your body clock.
  • Doing some gentle exercise during the day – this helps your body get ready for rest so it’s easier to fall asleep. Try a short walk or stretch during the day, not right before bed.
  • Take a warm bath before bed – this can calm your body and mind, help muscles feel soft and loose, slow down your breathing and help your body get ready for bed.
  • Make sure your room is not too hot or cold – if it’s hot you may feel sweaty or uncomfortable, if it’s cold you might wake up or find it hard to relax.
  • Use an eye mask if it’s too bright – light can wake you up or stop you from sleeping well, using an eye mask can make it dark so your body knows it’s time to sleep.
  • Use earplugs if it’s noisy – they make things quiet so your body can rest.
  • Try breathing or relaxing exercises to calm your mind and body – breathe in slowly through your nose, and out slowly through your mouth, do this until you feel calm.

If sleep is still difficult

If getting a good night’s sleep is still hard for you, talk to your doctor. Most sleep problems can be fixed and good sleep helps you to feel strong, happy and ready for the day!
