Maternity Services

Maternity Services

We provide comprehensive maternity services to support and care for women on the Central Coast throughout their pregnancy, birth and postnatal recovery period.

If you have concerns about your birth due to recent media coverage, please be assured there has been no reduction in public maternity services on the Central Coast.

Women will receive the same safe and high-quality maternity care from our skilled and dedicated staff as they always have. Please continue to attend your appointments as usual and present to Gosford Hospital if you go into labour.

At Gosford Hospital we offer:

  • Midwifery-led antenatal care services
  • Obstetric-led care for higher risk pregnancies
  • Ten birthing suites all with ensuite bathrooms and fixed birthing baths
  • Maternity ward for care before and after birth
  • Special Care Nursery for unwell or premature babies
  • Day Assessment Unit
  • Early Pregnancy Assessment Service (EPAS)
  • The option to birth as a private patient.

We also offer midwifery-led antenatal clinics at Wyong Hospital and in community health centres. Eligible pregnant women may also have the option to birth their baby at home. Find out more about our antenatal care options and Early Pregnancy Assessment Service at:

Booking in

The first step is to make an appointment to see your GP. Your GP will discuss your antenatal care options with you and make an electronic referral to us. Your GP will note your antenatal care preference on your referral, which will be sent with copies of your blood tests and ultrasound results.

We will send you a text message when we receive your referral. The next time you hear from us will be when we call you to arrange your first appointment, also known as a booking in appointment. The call will register on your phone as ‘No caller ID’.

We aim to see you for your first appointment when you are around 16 weeks pregnant.

If you are concerned that you have not heard from us, you can call the central booking line phone number on 02 4320 2884.
