Training and education
Postgraduate
There are 25 FRANZCR (Fellowship of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists) radiologists with a diverse range of subspecialty interests including neuroradiology, musculoskeletal, paediatrics, chest, abdomino-pelvic imaging, nuclear medicine and interventional radiology.
Following Full Training Accreditation by RANZCR, we are part of the Northern Network with Royal North Shore, John Hunter and Nepean-Blue Mountain Hospitals. We offer a number of radiology registrars training positions and Radiology Fellowship opportunities.
We are one of the few training sites in NSW to continuously host the largest regular biannual Mock Viva Exams for RANZCR Part 2 Exam Candidates in NSW.
The department is also one of the few NSW videoconference sites for the Radiology Education Series held at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney.
We regularly offer radiology teaching to other specialist trainee doctors such as Basic Physician Trainee (BPT) and Radiation Oncology Trainee (ROT) Registrars.
Our radiologists and trainee registrars also regularly attend and present at national and international medical imaging conferences.
Undergraduate
We are affiliated with the University of Newcastle and University of New England and have medical students from their Joint Medical Program (JMP) regularly rotate through our department.
Our department also runs weekly teaching seminars and lectures to medical students.
We also have national and international medical students completing their elective term in our department.
