Respiratory

The respiratory clinical trials unit has completed a number of trials including:

  • assessing the effectiveness of a novel oral vaccine to prevent exacerbations of chronic obstructive airways disease
  • assessing a new anticholinergic inhaler compared with existing inhaler therapy to improve symptoms of chronic obstructive airways disease
  • comparing the effect of providing limited versus full overnight sleep study information in patients referred for management of sleep apnoea (in terms of treatment prescribed and physician confidence in the diagnosis).

Future trials include assessing the effectiveness of a combination therapy inhaler in patients with chronic obstructive airways disease.
