Nunyara provides a focus on health services for Aboriginal people, a focus for our Aboriginal health workers and a voice for Aboriginal people using any of our services.
Underpinning the objectives of the Aboriginal Health Plan is participation in research including:
- The Dental Health Prevention Program for Young Aboriginal Children. The aim of this project is to evaluate an Aboriginal health worker child oral health training program.
- Evaluation of the NSW Aboriginal Population Health Training Initiative. The aim of this project is to improve the health of Aboriginal people by increasing the number of Aboriginal people working in the health services of NSW who have well developed skills and knowledge in population health.
- The Aboriginal youth mental health project seeks to enhance mental health service provision for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people on the Central Coast. A key objective of the program is to enhance the cultural competence of the organisation and gain insight into the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people who access Children and Young People’s Mental Health services.
