Since the arrival of Europeans accompanied by an array of predatory species, koala populations have been in decline. Further decimation, due to ongoing habitat loss and climate change, have made koala populations increasingly vulnerable. These latter impacts have led to increasing levels of disease and starvation in the remaining pockets of koala communities in this region.
