COVID-19 vaccine

Protect yourself

Flu shot and COVID-19 vaccines

The flu shot is your best protection against severe flu. Everyone aged 6 months and older is recommended to get a flu vaccine. The flu and COVID-19 vaccines can be given together at the same time. Although the symptoms are similar, flu and COVID-19 are caused by different viruses. It is important to protect yourself and the community from both illnesses. Visit your local GP, pharmacy, or Aboriginal Medical Service if you would like to receive both vaccines together. You can also visit a NSW Health Vaccination Centre to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

COVID-19 booster vaccination

Anyone aged 16 years and over who received their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine three or more months ago can receive a Pfizer booster vaccination at the COVID-19 vaccination clinics at Gosford Hospital, Wyong Hospital and Long Jetty Healthcare Facility.

Additional booster for at risk groups

The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) recommends a second COVID-19 booster vaccine if you are:

  • Aged 65 years and over
  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander aged 50 years and over
  • A resident of an aged care or disability care facility
  • Aged 16 years and over and severely immunocompromised. For this group the additional booster dose will be the fifth COVID-19 vaccine dose (three primary doses, first booster and second booster)
