The haematology department offers inpatient and outpatient services at Gosford and Wyong Hospitals, providing expert management in benign and malignant blood disorders.
The unit specialises in:
- The management of adult haematological malignancies including acute leukaemia, lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndrome, multiple myeloma and myeloproliferative diseases.
- Autologous stem cell transplantation.
- Apheresis, peripheral blood stem cell harvest, venesection and blood product transfusion.
- Investigation and management of abnormal blood counts, bleeding and clotting disorders.
The department has an active clinical trials unit dedicated to both sponsored and co-operative group trials, providing access to novel therapies for the Central Coast area and out-of-area patients.
