Gosford Hospital hepatitis B vaccination advice

Central Coast Local Health District is contacting the mothers of babies born at Gosford Hospital from 1 August 2017 to 13 January 2018 whose baby received the hepatitis B vaccine after a fridge storing newborn vaccinations was detected to have low temperature readings. The low fridge readings could result in the vaccine being less effective.

The newborn dose of hepatitis B vaccine is to protect babies of hepatitis B infected mothers but also is a preventative measure for those newborns without the virus.
