Make Healthy Normal 5 Lands Walk

Who will dare enter the mystery health zone?

Are you ready to enter the mystery health zone? Walkers are invited to explore the Make Healthy Normal Zone at the half-way point of this year’s 5 Lands Walk, at Avoca Beach on Saturday 24 June.

The Make Healthy Normal Zone will showcase a range of fun and exciting ways to create more vibrant and healthy lifestyle choices, packed with outdoor activities, healthy food advice and giveaways.

Experts will also be on hand to offer great advice on easy ways to stay active and eat more healthily. District Director of Health Promotion and Population Health Improvement Nicole Kajons said the Make Healthy Normal Zone aims to encourage families to make small changes that will make a big difference to their health and well-being.

“And what could be more appropriate than starting that challenge during the 5 Lands Walk, to help make healthy normal for families,” Ms Kajons said. “Make Healthy Normal is about challenging our current perception of “normal” and offering positive solutions on how to make small improvements to healthy eating and physical activity which can make a big difference to our overall health. Even a modest weight loss of 2 or 3 kilograms can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. “Small steps can make a big difference. Gradually increasing the number of healthy choices we make each day, such as adding more vegies to our meals, swapping sugary drinks for water, and being active every day can lead to significantly better health,” she said.
